Quick answer: choose what you are exporting
To save selected X posts as Markdown with KeepNest, collect them into your local library, connect a local Obsidian folder, and trigger manual sync. Each item becomes a note with source information and original text. This is not a one-click export of all the bookmarks in your X account.
Your account archive, a bookmark manager export, a Markdown note and a KeepNest JSON backup are different artifacts. Choose a method by whether you want a selected reference you can edit, a historical account snapshot, or a restore backup.
What the native X archive documents
X documents a downloadable account archive in HTML and JSON. Its listed contents include posts, messages, media and account information. The reviewed help page does not explicitly promise a complete bookmarks file; inspect your actual archive rather than assuming it contains every saved bookmark.
Do not upload an account archive to a tool simply to test that assumption. It may contain private messages and account data unrelated to your reference collection. KeepNest’s learning flow uses complete loaded examples from X pages, not an uploaded full account archive.

Three practical paths
For a few posts, create a Markdown heading, paste the text you have permission to keep, and add the original URL. For an existing large bookmark collection, check a dedicated export tool’s current source coverage, permissions and file format. For future discovery, KeepNest can reduce manual bookmarking by selecting posts from normal browsing according to your confirmed interests.
A historical exporter solves migration; an automatic saver solves remembering to collect new references. Neither replaces checking source completeness. Try a small batch before committing a large collection and retain a restore backup when changing your storage workflow.
Use the current KeepNest export format
The following example comes directly from KeepNestSyncTargets.toMarkdown, the formatter used for local sync. The example is demonstration content. The current format does not add YAML author, url, date or tags fields automatically; its source blockquote includes the author link and saved date, and an optional category line follows.
Open Sync destinations, choose a folder in your vault, grant write permission and manually sync the selected item. Re-sync updates the same item’s file. Edits made in Obsidian are not merged back into the browser library, so keep your personal analysis in a separate linked note when you plan to sync again.

Talk to five potential users. Record recurring weekly tasks, then build the smallest useful solution.
Verify images, replies and backup choices
Image references remain online URLs, not downloaded attachments. Included replies are only the context available to the supported capture flow; no whole-thread guarantee is implied. Check the original before treating a note as a complete record.
Use JSON export for restoring the KeepNest library, and Markdown for reading and reuse in your note tools. Do not delete the original library until you have checked a sample of exported notes and tested the backup you intend to keep.
